PKDIY Skate Spot - Fundraiser Shirt

Back by popular demand, the Fundraiser shirt for the DIY skate spot in Port Kembla, NSW. All proceeds go to construction and repair of the community owned skate spot. ($34 per sale). This March the council has been threatening to dismantle the park if we don't make it safer.

The PKDIY skatepark has been a lifesaver for the kids (and parents) of PK and surrounds during lockdown as they have found a place to escape the screens and monotony of home schooling while working on new skate skills and connections in the community. The park is bringing skaters from the region to PK as the word spreads of the inspiring community led initiative that has transformed the space into a hub of community connection through the love of skating. An Australian Olympic Skateboarding finalist, Kieran Woolley has even shared post about this space with his world Instagram following.

The park has been built by local skaters with their own funds (and sweat), however due to the success/high level of use it is in need of some love and care. We plan to use the funds raised to replace the surface material of the existing features with weather resistant material (paper/resin composite) that is designed to withstand the beating of a skaters biggest tricks and outdoor environments. Any left over funds will cover the cost of creating new features for the park.

This area has been earmarked for a skatepark in Councils Master Plan for King Georges Oval. However we know that this won't be done for a number of years so this will help us bridge the gap between the present and the future of PK skateboarding.
